Who files here

Four kinds of record. The same archive, with the limits of this release.

A records office

The job
A records office keeps the policies, minutes, and procedures people are expected to find again.
The files
Those records are PDF, Word, plain text, or Markdown, up to 25 MB. Each one is filed in a library.
In this release
Staff search the text that was extracted. They can ask a question, and the answer names the document and the page. A later upload keeps the earlier file.
The limit
Folders, departments, and projects are not in this release. A library is the only container. In the catalogue

A board secretariat

The job
A board secretariat keeps the working papers and the minutes of a meeting.
The files
The papers are filed as they stand. A later upload keeps the earlier file, with its filename and processing state.
In this release
Someone can search the text or ask how long a class of record should be kept, and the answer points at the page that says so.
The limit
Dox does not enforce that period. Putting an older version back as the current file is planned. In the catalogue

A research group

The job
A research group keeps the papers it needs to search across.
The files
Papers that already contain text: PDF, Word, plain text, or Markdown.
In this release
The group searches that text and asks a question that comes back with the page. The group can be its own organisation, or one library inside a shared one.
The limit
A scanned page with no text layer is not read. OCR is planned. In the catalogue

Questions about what is available are on the FAQ. The full list is the catalogue.
